Big LLL .com in todays picks and I am finally getting around to thanking Adam Dicker, Page Howe, and Rick Schwartz for the DomainSherpa portfolio review they did on my names, thank you gentlemen it was quite an honor to have you critiquing, and liking, some of my domains, also a big thanks to the Sherpa, Michael Cyger, I appreciate it and really enjoy the shows. And I can’t forget to thank Michael Berkens for calling in an offer on a few of the domains he liked, ClothesRack.com, FashionRunway.com, and Backseat.com. Incidentally, the show is called Project Runway, Fashion Runway is totally generic.
It was nice to hear that everybody liked my domains and nobody would drop any of them, Rick said I had a lot of 6 figure domains in the list, Adam said he did not think any were 6 figures but they were good domains. Page had a really good point when he said I have some good names that are just a little off from being the category killers, it’s so true, I remember 2000-2001 when I was scoring expiring names like AlternateEnergy.com, ArtistSupply.com, and CarRenting.com and wishing I was scoring names like AlternativeEnergy.com, ArtSupplies.com, and CarRental.com, but it was not that easy and I had a slow connection so I got what I could, I always knew these names I got were good but like Page said, they aren’t the category killers, Page liked BodyMakeup.com and SwampCoolers.com the best.
As much as I love hearing this 6 figure talk, sometimes the most frustrating part of domaining for me is having decent, valuable domains that get $5k-$10k offers but I want more than that, so if the domain is making no significant parking income it is basically worthless to me until I sell it, but if I feel the domain will sell for $50k plus in the future to the right end user then I just have to wait, I really hate wholesaling out my .com domains if I can help it. I understand this is not the worst problem to have and I have had much worse problems in the past but it does create an interesting frustration when times are slow and the funds start getting low, especially when I hear Rick saying the domain is a 6 figure domain, now I will have to wait even longer for the right end user, lol.
This is why I started getting into .me domains, for the liquidity believe that or not, I don’t mind selling a .me domain for $500-$1500 if I recently picked it up for an $8 reg fee or a $50 auction bid, and I have sold over 100 .me in the last year which has kept the cash flowing so I can hold out on the old .com’s, except now September has basically died for the .me sales, I am sure it will pick up again soon…

Some good names on that list (your critique list), I would not mind owning a few of them. I only own a few .Me domains. I bought some to use not for investment purposes. I think now is good time to start re-evaluating any domains that are not .Com or premium domains in alternate extensions. Once the floodgates are open and the thousands of new Gtlds hit the market, anything not .Com or premium alternate is going to plummet pretty fast, me thinks..
Possibly Dean. I am banking that in this new gTLD World, if that even becomes anything in my lifetime, my .me and .tv will be very cool, if not then I will have still made a decent ROI in the last few years…
And I tell myself everyday that in this new gTLD future I will still have the wisdom to recognize the pigeon shit when I see it…
In all seriousness, thank you for the link at the bottom of your daily picks all year. It was much appreciated. Keep up the good work. And no offense, but if your traffic is like mine they just came from Domaining but I’m sure Francois appreciates the return
In all seriousness, I like you Shane and I like your daily posts, I was just mixing things up a bit is all, but the link is back up, thanks for the thanks. And yes 99% of my traffic comes from Francois’ Domaining.com, thank you for that Francois…
Well done, Mark. So many nice names on your list. Yes, waiting is really not easy, and patience is in short supply.
I gone through your portfolio review. I think you’ve given the best possible names for the Sherpas to comment. Your domains are too good.
