I spent some more money on new TLD’s again today, I got more .Today domains, I figure if I am going to post about all this I should be a participant and not just a spectator, I can afford to win or lose on a few of these things and how better to really feel the effects than to spend some real money.
Today .Construction, .Contractors, .Directory, .Kitchen, .Land, .Technology and .Today ended their 8 day Donuts Dutch Auction style pricing and are now available for whatever the final pricing is on these domains, they are not all the same price but whatever they are today is the “floor”.
I looked at all these and liked .Today the most, I did get some single letters in other extensions like X.Directory for $113 a year and a few others but my real “premiums” are Energy.Today and Food.Today, both are $230 a year renewals and Energy.Today I spent $380 first year and Food.Today $230, I also wanted Medicine.Today but while I was waiting for the price to drop it got taken, I figured Energy, Food and Medicine, what else do we need, oh yea we need Water, that was reserved by the registry.
So besides Cannabis.Today, Marijuana.Today and Hemp.Today that I got the other day, I spent another $500 on $20-$40 .Today domains when the price dropped today, domains like DNA.Today, Cooking.Today, Farm.Today, Farming.Today, Trucks.Today, Recipes.Today, Gourmet.Today, NaturalGas.Today, Fuel.Today, Eco.Today and a few others, am I just going Crazy.Today???
Here are the domain picks dropping on February 20th 2014:

Mark you got some nice .today domains!
Those renewal fees are ridiculous. Hopefully, you get to flip most of them within the next 12 months.
Yea Energy.Today and Food.Today are $230 a year and the single letters are $113 a year, the others like Farm.Today and DNA.Today are $20 a year. The most confusion is explaining this lol. But I have to do that with .tv already so I have experience with confusion, in the meantime I see hundreds of sites using the term EnergyToday so we will see if I can sell it at a profit…
most are $19-20/yr at dynadot so i think are good purchases even cheaper than .tv renewals
.Today is more of a blogging/newspaper type extension, your success will come if it catches on. It is to early to say if the extension is embraced, or buried in the landfill of gtld’s still to be released. Many of the geo .today were at $200 and change premiums.
I do not see .Today being a homepage type domain, for a corporate presence, where as .Technology can be, same with .Construction, .Contractors. If newspapers choose to convert, or bloggers give it a chance, it could catch on. Paying $2xx per year, when holding it in a portfolio setting waiting for a end user, is going to be tough.
Land, and Kitchen were tricky ones to get phrases for.
.Directory it is a good extension, with lots of keyword combinations that work well within it.
Best of luck to you
Time will tell Mike, either way it will be fun to see what happens…
I agree these are exciting times, I think things are changing more than we know it.
It is good you have a strong .com portfolio that will get you thru the years it may take for the gtld’s to catch on.
It is very exciting to get names Like Energy Today, they are right there, ripe for the pickingthe launch, albeit at a premium.
I tend to cross reference what is going on with the .com, and what they are priced at for the phrase. I can tell you many of the searches came up with domains held by BuyDomains, and they were very reasonable prices many times at $1,188, and under.
So in my mind does someone pay BuyDomains $1000, for the .com, and pay $10 per year renewal, or do they pay up for the GTLD in the 4 figure range, and pay $230 per year in renewals. Large corporations, will not hesitate, small businesses might think twice.
I can’t believe I am reading this.Today..lol…..You are “all in” with the New G’s…Sweet!….Congrats!
WTF.today
you all gonna crash and burn
Send me an email with your price for cooking.today and farming.today please .
Next stop: .bubble … lol
All this new Gtlds frenzy reminds me so much the cyclical pump-and-dump schemes you can see also in the stock market … it’s up to you to guess who is pumping, what will be dumped and who will loose its shirt … 😉
You don’t have to go outside the domain industry to find pumps and dumps. See Flowers.mobi for $200K and 1000x the hype.
I didn’t get any .mobi and besides a few single letters I only got .today names in the new tld’s, I like the extension, but it’s also possible that I just threw away $1k.
I haven’t completely lost my mind yet, I still get .com’s, I bought xxxspy.com for $50 yesterday.
And speaking of flowers.mobi, where is Rick these days? Haven’t seen a post from him in weeks.
I think Rick is busy trying to prove to all of us that his 397 hand registrations were gems of an investment.
Next year I will buy his GTLDDrop.com and start another domain dropping blog, I bet it will keep me really busy lol…
You can buy TLDDrop.com from me for 10% of whatever Rick asks LOL. Just hand regged it today.
I know what Rick sells domains for so in reality I can’t even afford the 10% lol…
I know, but being an equity analyst, that was the first comparison which came to my mind 😉
I really like energy.today and food.today – great picks!
Thank you Michal, I like them too…
Mark, if you are in “urgent” (lol) need, you can always buy TLDDropCatch.com or GtldsDrop.com, they are both available at the moment 😀
Actually I am putting a plan and site together for Energy.Today 😎 It’s inevitable Andrea…
