    Smart thinking, Mark:

“…Regarding the new gTLDs, I think what will probably have the biggest impact will be when and if some of the big companies that are applying for their company and brand names, not for public registration but for company use, start advertising them, if companies start advertising new G addresses for their own reasons you will probably start seeing them advertised before a big end user buys one of mine and starts branding it.”

    Nail.on.head

I discussed this on my own blog back in 2008 and 2009. At that time, I felt that generic strings should be blocked but that .brand strings should be allowed to go ahead:

    http://www.msdomainer.com/2009/01/trademark-vanity-boutique-tlds-revisted.html

These links are just FYI, safe, no ads, and I’m not selling anything, so I hope this is okay.

Obviously, I have changed my mind, at least to the extent that I have regged some new gTLDS.

Of course it’s OK, I am embarrassed I didn’t know about your blog before, I checked out your LifeIsABrand.com but didn’t know about MsDomainer.com, I will start reading and I just put a link to you from here, thanks for the info…

        Don’t be embarrassed, Mark.

Now when I blog about the industry, it’s on the Life is a brand blog.

I found that I didn’t have enough to say about the industry to sustain the Ms Domainer blog — that I was just repeating stuff.

But there are some good articles on MsD, now JI, and my take on the gTLDs was fairly spot on, given that at the time I was a noob.

        :)

    1. Mega advertising agency accumulates 25,000 great .whatever domains

    2. Mega advertising agency tells big brands that they “must” use these new .whatevers because it’s the hottest new thing and the future of the internet

    3. Mega advertising agency creates the market and inflates their own portfolio to an absurd amount of money.
