  1. You are absolutely right about new gtlds.
    What does “follow me” do?
I guess it alerts me about new posts.
    What about new comments?
    I checked it anyway… :)

    • Mark says:

Yea, I don’t get many comments, be careful doing this at Elliots or Berkens though, you will get 1000 plus comment notification emails lol…

  2. Mike says:

What do you think of the .email gtld? Do you think people are getting a little bit to carried away with them, from an domainer investment perspective?

    • Mark says:

I had a few I liked but they got reg’d and I didn’t want to spend $150, I would have got at $19 though, like Vanity.email, otherwise I am not so crazy about it outside of a specific email project, and my name is a premium so I won’t be getting it. I don’t look at the extension overall as much as what would make a great left.right combo in that extension, so what is a good.email domain and what can it be used for?

  3. During the discussion phase of the new gTLD scheme, I had postulated that if one succeeds, all succeed, because what they have to overcome in order to be successful, they have to overcome together: i.e the mindset of the public opening up to alternative, or auxiliary extensions, using keywords left and right of the dot. That was before I could appreciate the enormity of the extensions. It’s too, too many! However, once that is achieved, the extension itself wouldn’t matter as much as the keywords going together, like horse and carriage, love and marriage, like the TV show song used to sing…

So, Mark, you’re right about that.

  4. Mark,
As regards the new gTLD landscape (but not only …), let me give you a couple of friendly tips:
    – never take something for granted, people often forget about that …
    – hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.
I think you will get soon what I mean :)
My domain of the day: CellularAlarmSystem.com (Cellular Alarm System) – Make me an offer!

I appreciate the advice Andrea, but I feel I should remind you that I am a big grown up 52 year old kid that has been around the block a few times, I don’t spend my mortgage payments on domains anymore, and I was neck down paralyzed for a few months and in a wheelchair for almost a year so I don’t take anything for granted anymore either, and I know what the worst is, or close to it anyway, and it is not as easy to prepare for as you might think, it’s more like a surprise…

And I still get .com’s, the other bidders didn’t pay so I got PotBank.com today lol, not sure exactly what I will do with it but maybe I will smoke some Kush and think of something 😎

  5. Kassey says:

“I don’t get names based on how well I think a particular extension will do, I get names based on what I think are good left.right combinations.” Very smart!!! You seem to always have a different angle.

    Question: [ ] Follow Me
Is it just for this specific blog post? Or all your future posts?

  6. I do like my SEO domains, but not those two. Thanks for the shout-out though. :)

Argh! I would go after 2 letter TV domains if the damn registry wasn’t taking them back. Verisign wants them for marketing purposes.

    • manos says:

All LL .tv were already backordered from August 2010
and earlier at name.com that took about 99% so no real chance to get nowadays if registry would not take back

      • NameYouNeed says:

Seems that Verisign is also holding back premium .TV domains. I couldn’t backorder the best domain on this list. I assume people know which domain I’m talking about.

  8. P.S.
